Benefits Of Boxing For Fitness

After watching the biggest boxing match of 2017 on Saturday with Anthony Joshua v Wladamir Klitchshko, I thought it would be a good idea to cover the fitness benefits of boxing training.

You may watch a boxing match and think it is just two people hitting each other in the head however these people are extremely fit athletes that train vigorously in their training camps on the build up to the big fight.

Boxing training classes flooded gyms across many countries and became a popular method of improving your cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone while learning a new skill. Classes such as boxercise and body combat were full of both men and women looking to get fit. Also with the popularity of mixed martial arts, kickboxing classes have been introduced to many health clubs studio timetable.

Cardio boxing training classes include the use of sparring jabs, power punches, self-defence, and fitness drills.  You may also enjoy more benefits aside from the physical aspects of boxing trainings. Cardio boxing workouts allow you to burn out 350 to 500 calories in just an hour making it a great way to lose weight. You learn the correct execution of the punch and kick combinations for a more intensive workout that can help you become stronger and more confident.

The combinations you perform on the blocks, jabs, and kicks are executed to an imagined opponent. You may see classes where participants throw punches and kicks in the air. You will also find classes that have quality equipment such as punching bags and you may also have the option of getting a partner that has boxing pads.

Another popular introduction to boxing training is white-collar boxing. Taking the average joe through an intense training camp to prepare them for a charity boxing match at the end. In these camps people would lose weight, improve their fitness, and learn how to box.

All of these boxing training classes improve your speed, resistance, and strength. Flexibility and your reflexes are also enhanced. Repetitive motion on the arms by sparring and jogging while you punch helps your arms and legs gain strength and power. These movements require you to develop balance and coordination that enables your body to be more stable and maintain a good form.

The physical benefits you gain from boxing and kickboxing are just a few of the many benefits that these classes can provide. You will be able to learn more about self-defence mechanism skills, which you may use in case of unwanted situations. You will also feel a release when you punch or kick the pads which can reduce stress and unnecessary anger. This can help you become more relaxed in your normal days activities.

  1. I love boxing! I started 5 years ago. It gave me a lot of confidence – I am a small person, but in the ring, that didn’t matter as much as I thought. I trained 5 times a week because I loved it – I reaped such good health benefits from it too. I recommend it!
